Have ya had some crawfish
yet? They’re great this spring. Scott
Landry at Seafood Ya Ya is doing some incredible
bugs – go get all you can eat soon.
I’ve been for 3 crawfish boils, so far
this year, and I’m loving them. Beer
on ice and crawfish. You hear me Alaska? By
the way, Molly, Chris LeBlanc is coming to
Anchorage!!! Take him out to angle some Steelhead
or whatever it is ya’ll catch up there.
Will I be coming with him, you ask? Only if
they hire me as second lead singer and guitarist
really soon. Oh, for all us down here, Chris
is also gonna open up a show for ZZTop and
Hank Williams, Jr., in Beaumont, TX. I’m
full of good news for Chris. Not to mention,
he’s also doing an acoustic set on April
5th with Ian Moore and John Lisi at 415 Club
in lovely Port Allen. So, check my link to
Chris LeBlanc Band and find out all about
my brother in music and Chinese buffet.
What about me, you say?
Well, my turn-on’s include singing
to drunk girls who flash me at Spanky’s
Daiquiris (you missed it this week), playing
songs I don’t know and getting away
with it, springtime pollination (a headache,
but look at the flowers!), and my big ass
truck loaded with friends and drinks on
the way to a festival. Turn-off’s
are still girls who huff and puff because
I don’t play Brown-Eyed Girl. It’s
so fun to watch, though. And, it makes it
easy to eliminate them from the dating pool!
However, I will dance with you to that song.
It’s spring, and
today is so pretty here. I’m only
inside so’s I can keep you up to date
with my sizzling lifestyle. After I do this,
I plan on going downstairs and finishing
the laundry… hehe. Seriously friends,
thanks for checking the website. The monthly
schedule is now printable, by the way Lyn.
Thanks Jimmy Granier, webmaster!
I hope you have started
on my list of things to do in spring. I
want to thank Kelly for the great party
during the St. Patrick’s Day parade.
I really enjoyed the morning with friends
and food. Thanks Joan, Richard, Liz, and
Selena for coming and spending some money
at the Alzheimers benefit on Mar. 27. Here’s
what’s up this month:
I’m doing the usual
gigs at Spanky’s on Sundays, Seafood
Ya Ya on Tuesdays, one Friday at Superior
with the boys, 3 Fridays and 1 Monday at
On the Half Shell, 1 appearance at the Station,
and probably 1 Monday at the Caterie with
the Monday Night Band. And, I’M GONNA
START PLAYING THE NEW BULLDOG THIS MONTH!
The new Bulldog, I say, is at 5135 Canal
Blvd., in the building that was the Parkway
Tavern – a famous New Orleans college
hangout, where I actually saw the Molly
Ringwolds before they hit. It’s in
the Mid-City area and looks really cool
- with a big patio, kinda like the Gingerman
in Houston. I might be on the patio, but
we’ll see. I’ll be there every
Thursday around 9pm in April and, hopefully,
will rotate between the two Bulldogs, month
to month. Rhett Anthony will now be appearing
at the Magazine St. Bulldog, too. He’ll
be there April 1st and maybe April 29th.
John Gros will still be in the rotation,
too, but Papa Grows Funk has him very busy.
Damn, he’s playing Tokyo this week!
Happy birthday wishes
to Jenny, Liz, and Selena – all with
birthdays on Fridays within a month of each
other, all good friends to me. Jive Train
was a blast last Friday night! These guys
are some kinda soulful and talented, and
they let me sing Al Green with them! Catch
them at www.jivetrain.com. Oh, look for
some rumblings with Debbie Landry and friends
Stompin’ Ground and Jimmy Granier.
I heard things….
JazzFest, French Quarter
Fest, Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival, and
Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis are
all upon us. Do some web searches on those
things and tell me you can skip them! I
have some links to these on my links page.
I should be at JazzFest on April 24th. I
may have a flag with my logo on it. So if
you see it, stop by.
It’s a blessing
to my life to be able to play music and
even make a living at it. Thanks for your
help in making that possible for me. Let’s
remember our troops that are trying to preserve
freedom around the world and are in harms
way. Thank you soldiers. Whatever you think
of our President, he does say what he believes,
and doesn’t seem to follow whatever
wind blows. I hope you and your family are
happy, safe and sound, right now. I hope
we have some crawfish together and sing
and dance.
