April 2010

Man, oh, man, this month is starting off beautifully!  The weather is perfect and the gardens need to be planted, plus I’ve got a to-do list that should keep me busy for the next 6 months!  Gigs are really good and plentiful, and it’s festival season!  Also, it’s Selena’s birthday month and we have lots of fun things to get to – then my b-day follows shortly after.  There’s no way one can do all the great things that are going on in April and May, but it is one great time of year to live in South Louisiana.  And, I am a blessed and lucky man to have my health, my job, my friends and family, and my birthday girl Selena.  Happy birthday, baby!  Enjoy your month…

I start off the month doing the first ever, full-gig, acoustic duo with Laurie Whitney.  We’ve played together many times onstage, at my shows, at hers, and in bands.  She is a very talented singer and we look forward to doing more of these shows.  This one is April 1st at On the Half Shell.

I’m returning to steady work in New Orleans this year.  Metairie Country Club was a good time in March, and I’ll be back on April 2nd, as well as throughout the summer.  Also, I’ll be making my third appearance at The Rusty Nail in the Warehouse District of NO on April 17th.  They just purchased the lot next door and have opened a large patio area.  This month’s date there will mark the Grand Opening of that patio!

I’ll be back at Onezia, On the Half Shell, Southpaws, Monjuni’s on Jefferson, Churchill’s, and Spanky’s P’ville this month.  Sundays at Spanky’s are still going strong.  I’ll take two of them off though – look for Debbie Landry and Ryan Jenkins to fill in for me there.  Laurie Whitney joins the band for the Sullivan’s Ringside show this month - April 22nd.

Fun things coming up:

May 5 – Cinco de Mayo appearance and party at Mi Padre’s in Prairieville

May 8 – Lorraine Ott Memorial Golf Tournament for Cancer Services of Baton Rouge – Jimmy Ott has asked the band to play, 2pm on Sat. May 8.  http://www.cancerservices.org/media/publications/2010golfbrochure.pdf

May 16 – Spanky’s Prairieville Block Party – big outdoor stage, fun all around, inside and out – Featuring the Chris LeBlanc Band and the Chee Weez – 5pm on May 16, but the fun starts earlier.

May 30 – Charles Pierce joins me for a pre-Memorial Day Sunday night Spanky’s show – always fun!

June 4 – I get back to summer poolside gigs at Country Club of Louisiana.

Happy Easter and I hope you have a wonderful month!
