The time has come, friends….THE ELVIS AND JESSE SHOW 2008 is here!!!!
Our annual love fest for The King of Rock and Roll is happening, once again, on August 17, 2008, at Sullivan’s Ringside, Corporate Blvd. @ College Drive, Baton Rouge, LA.  The show starts at 7pm and Elvis and Jesse will enter the building around 8:15pm.  Get there early, as the throng has begun to surge in the last couple of years.  We’ll have the full band again this year, plus our usual hyjinks.

Special guest stars - THE CHRIS LEBLANC BAND!
Featuring Laurie Whitney from New World Funk, and Russ Bryant
Band - Nick DiMaio on drums, Stan Campbell on guitar, Louis LeBlanc on bass

I guarantee great fun and music, and the best time you’ll have in BR on a Sunday night.

I’m in no shape for this show, folks, I swear.  Gerard Langlois, aka Elvis, has begun a strenuous regime of exercise, and he tells me the jumpsuit is fitting well!  Jesse’s body …well, time, food, and beer have caught up with me, lately; however, I have been on the bicycle 3 days this week, logging many hundreds of feet in the high traffic areas of uptown Gonzales.  Can I climb into those leather pants, I, and others, keep asking….?  You’ll have to be there to find out, now won’t you?

Seriously, we thank you for letting us indulge our love of Elvis Presley once a year.  And, as is our custom, we will take no profit from this show, and contribute whatever we make (along with donations) to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (St. Jude’s link). We like the Memphis connection of this charity, along with its worthwhile goals.  We’ll be promoting around town the weekend before, so you may see us out and about, in Elvis persona.  Come on out on August 17 to Sullivan’s!

In new gig news, I’m doing a first-time show at George’s Restaurant on George O’Neal @ Jones Creek, on the patio, on Aug. 23.  Also, I’ll be heading back to La Caretta after a long absence – and I’ll be joined by Matt Doran on keys, as well as Brett Smith from Sweet Root on drums, and Max Toler from New World Funk on bass.  First time jamming with Brett on the kit, so it should be cool.  I haven’t been to On the Half Shell in Prairieville in a few moons, so I’m happy to get back there on Aug. 22.  Don’t forget that the show at Onezia on Aug. 2 has a $5 cover charge, but the atmosphere is pretty nifty.  Love the Chimay beer there.

Check the August schedule for dates at Mi Padre’s, Spanky’s two locations (a 3rd one coming soon, and P’ville has been renovated), The Pastime Lounge, Mariner’s, and Southpaws.  I’ll try to get back to Monjuni’s soon.  And, I might be doing some Sundays at Sullivan’s in September and October, with Matt Doran and other band members.

Oh, I’ll make the final show of this month - Aug. 31, the night before Labor Day - a special one, with guest Chris LeBlanc!  We'll be at Spanky’s in Prairieville - and Sunday nights before Monday holidays are always a big hit.  That is the day after LSU’s first home game of the season!!  Are you ready for some football?  Hell yeah!!  I’m expecting great things from the Tigers and the Saints.  I can’t wait for fall weekends.  Predictions coming soon….

Huge thanks to Becky and Steve Rushing, and Gerard Langlois, for pitching in to a collection of books, CDs, and DVDs that we are sending to Sgt. Clay Jenkins and his group of great American soldiers in Afghanistan.  I’ll try to get that in the mail this first week of August.

Remember, you can check out my myspace page (using a link on this site’s links page) for up to the minute daily updates and schedule changes, along with photos of recent travels, friends, food, and fun.  Summer is almost over, so good luck with school days starting, last minute vacations, and gearing up for the fall – it’s almost time for football, fall festivals, Oktoberfest, and perfect weather.

Thankyaverymuch,

Jesse
