This is it, my friends, and I can’t wait.  It’s time to don the leather pants and jacket, get some Elvis moves on, re-learn the over-the-top orchestrations and gyrations, shave, lose a few pounds and get some cardio going, and get the word out.  My favorite show of the year is here!  Thanks to all who are making this happen, again.  Unfortunately, we were unable to stay in the venue of recent history, Sullivan’s.  Since we love to do this show on a Sunday, when all our friends are most available, we are back in Ascension Parish – a parish where a man can buy a drink on a Sunday with no fear of alcohol nazis taking the bar owner’s license away.  Of course, I do want you all to be careful before, during, and after this show.  Elvis didn’t drink, but they served drinks in the casinos of Vegas.  But, since I can’t offer you a suite, please drive safely.

So, Kyle Sonnier at Onezia Lounge is opening up the bar for us, especially, on a Sunday to do The Elvis and Jesse show, Aug. 16, 2009.  The King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, passed away on that date in 1977, so his presence will be felt.  I think it is perfect.  We will be bringing in a stage and it will be SRO, so get there early for a spot at the bar.  I do apologize that seating is not going to be the same as in the last few years, but you won’t want to be sitting for our opening act, THE CHRIS LEBLANC BAND!  And you will want to see every move G makes as Elvis.  I will act a fool, as always, and love every breath-catching minute of it.  Chris starts right at 7pm, and Elvis and Jesse take the stage around 8:15pm.

For the first time, we are asking for a donation.  After some expenses, all (and I mean all) of what you pay to get in will go to St. Jude’s in Memphis.  Last year, with the budget from Sullivan’s and your contributions, we sent $1100 to that charity.  The band members basically do this for free, as do Gerard and myself.  For me, it is an excuse to play dress up and sing Elvis all night.  But we appreciate your help with this.  If you will come to one of my gigs before Aug. 16, you can buy a ticket for $5.  There are a limited number of those available – about 100 of them.  So, find me soon, as I only have a few shows on the calendar before Aug. 16.

With that in mind, I’m back at Sullivan’s Aug. 1st, with the band (Chad Braud, Matt Doran, Dan Bourgeois), for our monthly gig there.  The first one was really good and the guys did a fantastic job.  We do a nice blend of pop/rock/cheese/dance/70’s music.  Show starts at 9pm.

The Steely Dan night at Churchill's I had mentioned is not gonna be happening, as far as I know, or as far as my involvement is concerned. Instead, I picked up another show at Ahuuas Mexican Restaurant on Jones Creek Road on Thursday, Aug. 20. Come on out to the patio and enjoy a margarita with me.

I’m back at On the Half Shell in BR for the first time in a while, Aug. 7.  And I’ll do several Sundays at Spanky’s P’ville.  With shows at Spanky’s Sherwood, Southpaws, and George’s, it’s not a terribly busy month, but I’m all about one show right now.  Next month, on Sept. 3, Chris LeBlanc and I will reprise our successful gig at Onezia, when we were joined by Travis Thibodeaux back in June.  It was very well received, so look forward to that.  Also, Sunday, Sept. 6, Chad Griffin and Damon King will join me onstage at Spanky’s P’ville for a Labor Day weekend blowout.  This is also a repeat performance from Memorial Day weekend.  Also really well received, so we are excited to offer it again.

I know you are all ready for football, as am I.  But, I’m not ready for predictions, except to say I’ll be having great Saturday and Sundays very soon.  With a few dog days of summer left, there isn’t a lot going on besides shopping for school and last minute vacations; however, you can check these out:

OK, don’t forget that you can get a $5 Elvis and Jesse ticket at any of my shows before Aug. 16.  It’s a small $10 donation at the door, though.  Wear your Elvis shades and sideburns, a big bouffant do/wig, polyester shirts and slacks, an ascot, a bowling/rockabilly shirt, a wide belt, slick back a DA if you have good hair, honor the King with your presence.  Boy my boy, it’s gonna be a blast.  Elvis is entering the building, and he’s bringin’ his twin!

Thankyaverymuch,

Kirk (aka Jesse)
