Newsletter
- December 05
It's been
a year of upheavals, for all of us. I haven't
really been able to write a good newsletter
for December. I want to thank everyone for
another year of support - you are all so
good to me, and I know I can never express
that on a break at a show - THANK YOU. I
want to thank my good friends for what they
give to me, and congratulate everyone who
had babies and got new jobs and found ways
to make life grand! I want to thank Selena,
for always shining the sun on my day and
on my heart. I thank God for another year
of life and health, in which I bought my
first home - and for bringing Clay back
safely from Iraq. I saw more of this beautiful
country this year. I made new friends and
lost some old ones. I am still employed!
So, I am beginning 2006 with a new band,
called ROOM SERVICE - started with saxophonist/keyboardist
Russ Bryant. His band, Jive Train, is breaking
up, and we spoke this year about doing a
dance band to take advantage of that vacancy.
This won't be like my other bands, which
were basically a Kirk Holder show, with
some extra dudes. We are trying to be a
tight, entertaining, dance band - focusing
on soul/funk/r&b/80's. It's just another
area of music I feel I need to cover - and
at times, I'm tired of fighting with the
audience! hehe.... But still, NO BROWN EYED
GIRL! I will dance with my brown eyed girl
to that song, though. There will still be
plenty of acoustic shows, and I hope to
even do a few other band ideas.
I hope you and your families had a blessed
year in 2005, that your holidays together
or apart are full to the rim of the joy
and love that the season brings, and that
the new year will find us all happy, healthy,
and experiencing all we can in this short-lived,
challenging, yet remarkable thing we call
life.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and other
assorted holiday well wishes!
Kirk
