December 2011

Merry Christmas, my friends, and Happy Holidays to you all!  I hope this finds you well and ready for some cool weather and festive times.  I have a pretty busy schedule this month, along with some special holiday gigs.

December starts off with Bo Jamison joining me, again, at the Jack Daniels Bar at L’Auberge du Lac Casino in Lake Charles, 10pm Thursday, Dec. 1st.  We had a great time doing this last month – it’s like a one-day working vacation!  The next night, I return to Metairie Country Club after a long absence.  I’ve got three private parties in the first full week of the month, plus my first appearance at The Londoner on Sherwood Forest Blvd. in Baton Rouge on Dec. 8 – probably around 7pm.  I’ll do three Sunday brunches at Beausoleil Restaurant; then, they will close on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.  I’ll continue the brunch Sundays in 2012 – it is going so well and I love this job!

Dec. 22, it’s the 3rd Annual pre-Christmas Party with Chris LeBlanc and Kirk Holder at Onezia Lounge in Gonzales.  This show always draws a lot of music friends who will join us onstage for one night of fun music fellowship!  I have already heard of the great talent that will be in attendance, so please come out early for a seat.  This will be a terrific way to start the Christmas weekend.

Dec. 27, I have been asked to be part of a special songwriters showcase at Manship Theatre in Baton Rouge.  Called “Moonlight & Roses,” it’s a night featuring Rhett Anthony Glindmeyer, Chris LeBlanc, CJ Solar, Helen Darling, and Nicole Johnson.  I think these ladies have penned some hit records.  I have $10 tickets, available for a limited time - the price goes up soon.  The night also includes a wine tasting, and a “storytellers” atmosphere by the included artists.  I’m honored, if not intimidated, having been asked to join this group.  Maybe I can make up some whoppers about my songs…hehe.

Other gigs this month include On the Half Shell in Prairieville with the fabulous Laurie Whitney, Southpaws Daiquiris Dutchtown, and The Rusty Nail in New Orleans.  Happy Birthdays to my Dad, Howard Holder, Dave Long, Beth Sheets, and Charles Pierce.

Thank you all for a wonderful 2011.  I am really looking forward to seeing everyone this month and celebrating the season with you.  Selena and I are getting close to completing the renovations in the new kitchen/dining room, and we’ll try to have some kind of party to show it all off.  Hopefully, LSU and the Saints will provide some opportunity for that!  Or New Year’s Eve….

Have a wonderful and magical holiday season…

Merry Christmas!
Kirk

“Hang up your pretty stockings, turn out the light,
Santa Claus is comin’….. down your chimney tonight.
Ooh, it’s Christmas-time, pretty baby, and the snow is fallin’ on the ground.
Well, you be a real good little girl, cause Santa Clause is back in town!”
