Hi folks... sorry I’m late with the monthly ramblings. Football ended with a somewhat happy ending, in my opinion. The Saints’ season was so all-consuming that I felt quite a letdown and distancing from football after they were eliminated. But, it was a really fun year! I ended up having some folks over to watch Peyton and the Colts win, and I had a nice, new, big TV for the occasion.

At this time of year, I’m usually up to my ears with work and plans for the Krewe of Southdowns parade, with friends Bill and Gerard, and all the other Schellhase Krewe boys. However, I begged out this year and will not be riding - so, no funny costumes and silly makeup this year, which I’ll miss. But, I’m feeling a lot less stress. I’m actually working that evening, so I’ll have to miss seeing my buds ride and have fun, but please go support them on Friday, Feb. 16 in the Southdowns/Caterie area.

Speaking of Gerard, he will be riding in Southdowns, but only because he’ll be back in town from his new job in Alaska! Good for him, I’ve been saying. It’s a big change and chance for good things for my buddy - so, good luck G-man. We’ll see you at Mardi Gras. And, folks, he says he will come home for the Elvis and Jesse show, later this year.

Work is very good and steady, and my voice has been doing really well. The new On the Half Shell is a good looking place, plus my friend Kyle is in the kitchen doing great work. I’ll be there a couple of times this month. And, I’m showing up in Covington again, at the Columbia Street Tap Room - playing an hour more than I used to, 8pm-11pm. Thanks for all the private parties that you have been inquiring about. That is so flattering to be asked to perform for your special events!

It is nice to have sunny, warmer, fair days. I’m water-logged out here! But the ground is drying out, and I suspect things will be growing fast, with all that water dumped on the ground for the last 2 months. There’ll be lots to do around the house this spring.

"If you go to New Orleans, you better go see the Mardi Gras!" - It’s time for another parade season in beautiful New Orleans (mostly beautiful). I hope to soak up some of the fun in Metairie and New Orleans, Uptown and in the Quarter. I always enjoy spending some time there, for parades, people watching, fun music, and lots and lots of walking! Maybe a beer at the Bulldog or Lagers. Corn dog on Severn. Oyster shooters at Ernst Cafe’s Bacchus Bash. Bloody Mary’s in the Quarter. Cool temps at night, but beautiful, warm days. Going to see ole Watson at the King Pin. Looking for parking for hours. Looking for a place to pee. Ugh, it’s getting worse! "THROW ME SOMETHING, MISTAH!" Oooh, got poked in the eye.....

Oh, and Valentine’s...... whatever. Good luck with yours!

Who’s boiling crawfish? Can you smell ‘em?
