Welcome to my website
and to a new year. I hope your holiday season
was filled with friends, family, food, and
fun. And, are you excited about the LSU
Tigers? Got my plans in line to be in New
Orleans to watch the mayhem (I hope) as
LSU wins it’s first National Championship
in football in 45 years. Won’t you
join me? Well, if you know me, call the
cell phone and find us in NO on the 4th!
2003 was the year of
my CD release – a huge milestone and
one of the best gigs in my life. What a
great night that was! I’d like to
thank everyone involved one more time. Many
of you bought many CDs. I still hope I can
get a few more results from this first CD
– get it out to more markets or bring
some attention to a couple of the songs.
I saw many great artists
in 2003: Dwight Yoakam, Jerry Lee Lewis,
Steve Winwood, John Mayer, Willie Nelson,
Cheryl Crow, Delbert McClinton, “Gatemouth”
Brown, and even an Amos Moses reunion show!
I traveled to Memphis, Houston, and Florida.
I went to some great festivals, but missed
Breaux Bridge and Jazz Fest this year. I
played at the Varsity, Baton Rouge’s
premier live music venue, to a capacity
crowd of 12 or so (thanks to those proud
few). But I did open up for and shake the
hand of the man who’s bangin’
Liv Tyler. Good neighborhood.
My Uncle Jimmy passed
away in 2003 – always a cool guy to
me. I went to the Washington Parish Fair,
which my buddy Bill has been asking me to
go to for 23 years. I ate sushi for the
first time, and now love it. I was a Saints
season ticket holder for the 2nd year, and
now have to debate that expense. Come on
Saints….WTF? I made some friends who,
I hope, will be in my life for a long time.
I re-established some music associations,
by way of the Monday Night Band. My favorite
movies were “Kill Bill,” “Seabiscuit,”
and “Return of the King.” I
got a new truck!
I’m sure there
are some things I’m forgetting, but
once again, it was a year in which music
and my associations through performing made
my life what it is, and made it better.
You were all part of that, so thanks very
much.
Gigs are pretty typical
this month. I decided to take a break from
doing every Monday at the Caterie. I’ve
been working a ton, and not finding much
time for anything besides gigs and recovering
from gigs (whether that includes hangover
time is not up for discussion…). I
plan on being at the Caterie on Mondays
from time to time, or even on a regular
basis, but not in January. I’ll be
back at the Bulldog this month, as well.
Thanks for your support at all the shows.

Hey, the artist of recommendation
this month is Theresa Anderson, out of New
Orleans. I saw her the week of Christmas
at the House of Blues. She does jaunt up
to BR from time to time. She is a fantastic
singer/violinist/songwriter/performer. And
a cutie! I think her voice is stirring and
pure and powerful, and she has a great chance
to be a national star. If you heard her,
you’d probably think she belongs in
Nashville. Go!
Ya’ll, it’s
an exciting time to be here. LSU is up for
a football championship, it’s Mardi
Gras foreplay time (parades start in Metairie
on Feb.8, and Uptown on the 13th), LSU basketball
is looking up, and baseball is always good.
I’ll be getting ready to ride in the
Krewe of Southdowns on Feb. 20. And, as
always, I am hoping for cool changes in
my music – I just hope I can come
up with ideas for fun and profit!
Have a happy and safe
New Year’s Eve and Sugar Bowl Sunday.
May we all find peace and happiness as we
prosper in this new year.
