Hey everyone
and welcome to another brand new year! I
hope it will bring you all love and prosperity,
with a dash of live music and fun thrown
in. I had a really nice New Year’s
Eve gig, with many friends singing and hanging
out at On the Half Shell. Since then, I’ve
been very busy and pre-occupied with my
computer. I changed internet service for
the first time in my computer life! For
those of you who know my home email, the
first part is the same, but change the suffix
to @cox.net. But, you can all write me at
kirkholder@kirkholder.com,
as well.
I’ve made great
new friends and firmed up old friendships
in the past year. I am so grateful to have
you all as part of my life. I know I often
struggle to remember names, favorite songs,
requests, etc., but when you come see me
play, that is a wonderful gift to my soul.
Thank you.
Charles Pierce, a great
drummer and percussionist (now with the
Damon King Band) joined me in a duet on
Jan. 2 at Spanky’s. We both had a
good time and I expect we’ll be doing
that as often as we can. Look for him to
join me on percussion on more Sunday nights,
and perhaps we’ll take that show to
other venues soon. I’ll be doing a
3-piece Kirk Holder Band show at LA Daiquiris
on Jan. 15, with Chad Braud and Dan Bourgeois.
Two week night appearances at the Vineyard
are on for this month - one with Chris LeBlanc
and one solo. Peter Duffield, of 3 Blind
Mice, has requested that we play some duets
there, so look to my calendar for that to
come out, soon. Of course, I’m at
the Bulldog on Magazine Street in NO every
Thursday this month. And, it appears that
I’ll play a couple of times this month
in the French Quarter at a friend’s
place, called "The Little Easy."
I’ll firm that up and add it to the
schedule soon, too.
If you like good, original,
roots type country music, I dig this local
group "The Captain Legendary Band."
According to their website, they are releasing
a CD at Chelsea’s Café (in
the old University Shopping Center) on Jan.
29. www.thecaptainlegendaryband.com
Other shows this month
include sitting in with the Monday Night
Band at the Caterie, Superior Grill, and
On the Half Shell. I’m ready for February
and some Mardi Gras fun. Remember, Super
Bowl and Bacchus are on the same day this
year - Feb. 6! Hey, it won’t be long
and I’ll be showing you guys links
to all the festivals that are happening
in the spring. I love to think ahead, when
it comes to festival going. This is gonna
be a great year, my friends. With your encouragement,
I know I will continue to strive to perform
well and grow as a musician and entertainer.
Check my links for all the talent in Baton
Rouge and New Orleans. Have a great New
Year, my friends! Troops in Iraq and everywhere,
we are thinking of you and praying for your
safe return home. For this unfathomable
loss of life in southern Asia, from this
tsunami, I pray their souls find a peaceful
place. It is too tragic to imagine.
Take care, my friends,
and I’ll see you soon,
Kirk
