I hope your summer has
started off with a nice Memorial Day weekend
vacation. As I write this today, I’ll
be going later for a memorial tribute to
Brandon Dronet - you may recall that I wrote
about him a few months back. LSU will be
adding his name on the Memorial Wall on
campus. You can go to this site, Brandon
Dronet Memorial Fund, if you care to
donate to LSU in his honor.
I had a nice month of
May. Started off in Memphis, for the Beale
Street Music Festival. Highlights included
The Gin Blossoms and Jason Mraz, along with
Little Richard, Huey Lewis and the News,
and Bryan Adams. I missed Jazzfest this
year and Breaux Bridge. Just impossible
to do all those things that occur that first
weekend in May - such a great time of year!
I also made my first trip to the Greek Festival
in New Orleans and the Jambalaya Festival
here at home. Saw my first glimpses of the
Lakview area in NO and it is still devastating
to see.
I had a great time with
Matt Doran and Chad Braud, joining me once
again at Superior Grill. Look for that trio
at least once a month at Superior, and possibly
some new shows at Churchill’s. We
tend to find some fun Pop music cheese and
see how far off we can go.
June finds me with a nice
schedule. Doing a Sunday afternoon in New
Roads at Satterfields, a new gig back in
St. Francisville - Fat Mama’s Tamales
(related to the one in Natchez?), and back
at all the usual spots. Spanky’s also
has it’s 3rd Annual Beach Party on
June 25! Another day of live music and outdoor
cooking, all day and night. Get out your
coconut bras and grass skirts, tourist shirts
and parrot-head gear - we’ll be BBQing
and jamming with, what I hope will be, and
island feel, mon!
Happy birthdays to my
sister, Kim, my buddy Joel (actually at
the end of May), his wife Angie, and my
singing partner in Elvis, Gerard.
Thanks for your continued
support. I’m grateful for those of
you who check this site and come to see
me so often.
