Thanks for checking back
in with the website. I’ve been off
for about 10 days, now. Just worked out
that way - so, I decided to give my voice
a nice break, finish my new summer garden,
clean up around the house, and relax. Now
I’m ready to really plan some vacations!
hehe....
Well, the Spanky’s
Block Party was a great day, and seems to
have been a success. I enjoyed every band
that we lined up. David St. Romain performed
like a star, and Long Neck Society seems
to have brought the house down! I think
this will be an event that will continue
and grow. The festival atmosphere was more
than I could’ve imagined, and the
brief rain cooled things down, perfectly.
Thanks to Brian Gordon and Russ Bryant,
especially from me, for the PA and help.
Thanks to Nickie Dimaio for the drum set.
It’s back to work
at the usual spots this month. Saturday,
June 9, features Matt Doran and Charles
Pierce, with me, at Superior Grill. I’m
going to take one Sunday to go jam with
Russ and Nickie, and others, at Sullivan’s
on the 17th - 6:30pm. I’m hoping to
go to the Half Shell in Prairieville soon,
to join Dennis Pennington and Kevin Schexnayder
for some 3-part harmonies. Look for that
on the calendars - it would be a Wednesday.
Also, keep an eye out for a Sunday with
Chris LeBlanc and I at Spanky’s; soon,
if not this month.
June is not a great festival
month, but there is new one in New Orleans
- the New Orleans Seafood Festival - featuring
renowned chefs doing cooking demos - www.neworleansseafoodfestival.com
The Crab Festival in LaCombe
- www.lacombecrabcookofffestival.com
- and Smoked Meat Festival - www.evangelinetourism.com
- both sound tasty.
And here’s one I
just found - Soul Fest at the Audubon Zoo
- father’s get in free on Father’s
Day. www.auduboninstitute.com
I’d recommend Philip Manuel and Rebirth,
on the music schedule.
Happy Birthday to my big
sis, Kim Ricks - I love you, Kimbies!
Happy birthdays go out to Gerard Langlois,
my good singing bromaine-in-Elvis-and-Beatles.
Also to Angie Fitzgerald. I left off Joel’s
b-day last month - sorry buddy. Happy birthday
to you, too.
I think I had more boiled
crawfish this season than I have in a while.
It was great. I made a crawfish, corn, and
potato bisque from one boil’s remnants.
Though it was very spicy, I enjoyed it -
too hot for Selena’s tastes! Looking
forward to some grilling time this summer,
while the dog days are here. Oh, I hope
all my friends enjoy the Police concert
in New Orleans this month!
Just a few more days to
watch LaBron James, and enjoy some real
sports, then it’s WNBA and soccer
forced at us for 8 weeks! I can’t
get too much into Major League Baseball,
until the series. But, August pre-season
NFL games .... I can smell 'em, and they
are close. Still time to check out the flagging
Astros and a Houston weekend. Enjoy the
beach, everyone (but me.... but just maybe,
if the hurricanes cooperate).
