Newsletter - March 03

Hello again, friends! I hope you are getting some serious Mardi Gras partying done. It's been tough for me to get going on it this year. The CD had me so pre-occupied that this season kind of snuck up on me. But, I will be riding in the Southdowns Krewe again and will get down to New Orleans for some parades.

Here is some cool news: On March 8th, I will open up for Royston Langdon of the band, Space Hog, at the Varsity Theatre! He will be doing a solo/acoustic set of tunes from his band. (I hear he dates Liv Tyler…no confirmation on her appearance..). I will start around 9:45pm and will play all my original tunes. Tickets are $8 and are available at The Chimes or www.varsitytheatre.com.

All gigs are doing well for me. I appreciate the loyal friends who show up at all the new places. I have a new regular gig on Tuesdays at Landry's Seafood Ya-Ya, in the Kenilworth Shopping Center. Scott Landry is going to change that name soon and has a contest running about that name change. Check into it and come up with a new name for this nice little restaurant. I play from 6pm - 9pm.

I'm still doing Sunday nights at Spanky's Daiquiris in Prairieville, and March is my month at the Bulldog in New Orleans. I still want all my BR friends to visit the Bulldog someday - LOVE IT! Oh and hey, the New Orleans St. Patrick's Day parade passes right in front of the Bulldog on Saturday, March 15th. It is packed, rowdy, and a great time! Think about it…..

On February 28th, I will be making my yearly trek with the Krewe of Southdowns Parade. The parade runs through the Southdowns area, from Lee High School to the Caterie, at 7pm - 10pm. Our float is number 17 in line and we are named "Elvis in Wonderland." The parade theme is "Fractured Fairy Tales." I'll be one of twelve various Elvi on the float. My costume is still undecided at this point, but I'll be on the passenger side. Check out the route at www.southdowns.org.

Check out the article regarding the new CD and myself in Rhythm City Magazine in March. Thanks to Tommy Comeaux for the publicity. CD sales are going fine and I still have lots of promotions and attempts at airplay coming up soon. I will try to arrange another show with the big band soon. I would love to hear your true opinions, criticisms, comments, and praise (hehe) for the CD. For example, one fan said that my show is pretty upbeat, but the CD was a little on the low-key side. Not offensive to me at all. It's nice to know what people think. You can write to me or sign in on my guest book with any ideas, thoughts, or other messages. I am enjoying my CD more and more and am very happy that I have completed that step in my career. I hope to start writing some more soon!

It's a great time of year and I hope you are having fun and success. Baseball is here….Parades are here….Crawfish are here….Festivals are coming! Enjoy this wonderful state and world we live in. Pray for our soldiers and support our country. Tough times don't survive….What we do and what we are and who we are will always survive!

Thanks to you,

Kirk
