Greetings for the fall!
I hope you had a good time for Halloween.
I was gone during any dress-up time this
year. I just got back from Los Angeles
and Phoenix on Oct. 31st. I had one of
the most positive musical experiences
ever, working with producer, engineer,
and mixer Brad Cobb, out in LA. Thanks
to Chris LeBlanc for recommending him!
We are about 99% complete with the mixing
process - just a couple of levels to adjust
and then master it all. I can't say enough
about Brad, though, and all his talent
and ideas for my songs. He took them to
new and better levels.
After three days in LA mixing, and a side
trip to Universal Studios, I drove northeast
through California, taking Route 66 much
of the way, into Arizona. The mountains
all along the way were magnificent. Once
I crossed into Arizona, I cut through
some beautiful switchbacks through the
mountains. Every curve brings you to some
wonderful vista and my jaw would drop
and I would be amazed. We flatlanders
are not used to it. You can imagine why
the Native Americans found so much spirituality
in everything. It all dwarfs you!
I had wanted to drive
to Flagstaff on this leg of my trip, but
was running short of time. I had to be
in Phoenix by 6pm in order to see Mom,
clean up, and go to the
Paul McCartney concert, AGAIN!!! My jaw
dropped, AGAIN!!! He is such another miracle
and I'm so ecstatic that I saw him play
again. I can't describe his two concerts
that I attended this year, but it's like
those vistas through the mountains - something
that dwarfs and amazes you, and you just
can't comprehend where something so beautiful
came from.
The next morning, Mom
and I drove to Sedona - Red Rock country
- and I was, again, able to see some sights
beyond belief. As you can tell, I've not
traveled much! I can't wait to see the
Grand Canyon now, because those mountains
in Sedona are incredible and unbelievable.
Such vast beauty in our country! I want
to camp and hike next time. Also saw some
large parks, like Joshua Tree National
Park, on my drive. It's like another planet
out there, if you are just used to trees.
And I got to see my Mom and where she
has settled down, for now. Great time
there!
Well, I love it here,
too, and I'm back to working hard. I still
have some art and photography to complete
for the CD. Should have that, and the
final mixing, done in the next 10 - 14
days. I'll try to have the CD available
in early/mid-December. I am working on
a release party/show date. Believe me,
you will all know about it. Much ado about
nothing, my self-esteem tells me, but
I hope you will all like the CD. I just
hope it is the start of something and
not the conclusion. I want to keep writing
and recording and creating. It has been
so challenging!
Check the schedule,
send me some emails. I'm back at the Bulldog
this month. Private parties are kicking
in. Spanky's on Sundays. Not much new,
gig-wise. Take care of yourselves.
