November 03'
Hey everyone and thanks
for checking in on the website, again.
Let me see…. what can I catch you
up on? Not much! I haven’t been
doing much besides working. I was able
to go to my first LSU game in years –
the Auburn win. That was a blast, including
the great Law School party I played before
the game, with Matt, Chad, and Dan. I’m
still in the Superdome on Sundays and
things have been better than they looked
after Indianapolis left a mudhole there.
I skipped Halloweening this year, but
felt I did my dress up already on Aug.
16 for Elvis’ death anniversary.
It’s Saturday,
November 01, 2003 and I just got back
from playing at the ALS walk/run. I hope
they did well, because by the time I got
there, it had cleared out! All the beer
was at Spanky’s Daiquiris –
10 cases of Abita lights. I think all
the folks went to Spanky’s and left
me alone, except for Joan Abbott and the
Labats. Thanks Dana and Selena –
hope I lived up to your kids’ image
of me. Haha!
Oh, Oktoberfest in Pontchatoula
was just an awesome time, as always. They
are gonna move that festival to the Lamar-Dixon
Expo Center in Gonzales in 2004. Yuck,
I say! No offense, Gonzales – I’m
house shopping out that way. I suppose
once I’m in the Biergarten and chicken
dancin’, it will still be a good
time. Pontchatoula is so quaint, though.
Thanks Richard for the heads up on kegs
of Lowenbrau Oktoberfest beer for $5.99!
Hey, it does seem like I’ve been
doing more than working…..
Rhett Anthony’s
band, Hip Boot Joe (where have I seen
that name before, eh Dana?), is having
great success with the song they wrote
and recorded with the Williams Brothers
-
”Let’s Get Saved.” It
is getting national airplay and is very
requested on Gospel radio. Hopefully,
their own CD will be out soon. I bet they
get a local review (AHEM – Rhythm
City and Fun Section). Ah, screw it…..
Chris LeBlanc Band played
before some record biz big-wigs this past
week and I think they will be getting
some huge tour dates soon with big name
acts. I love my boy Chris and wish him
the best. His is talented, sure, but he
introduced me to the Great Wall Chinese
Buffet – one of his greatest achievements!
Thanks for letting me join you at the
Vineyard last week on acoustic, Roll!
Good luck to Doug Horner,
who has moved on with his law career and
has left for Houston. Great town for fun,
my friend. I hope it’s a good move
for you. Best of luck!
Check this out: AMOS
MOSES is playing together on Saturday,
Nov. 8, at Click’s Billiards in
BR! That’s Cam Pyle, Joel Cooper, and
Jeff Hood. This is a kick ass rock band
that ruled the area for years. You will
go, you will love it, you will drink shots,
you will get partially naked, you may
need a ride home – I’ll be
happy to help! Prost!!! (or however them
Germans said that when we toasted).
I agree, for once, with
Charles Pierce of the Damon King Band
(a well known, but highly non-influential
movie critique) – “KILL BILL”
is an awesome flick! Best thing I’ve
seen in a while. Hyper-violent to the
point of comedy (which is how karate movies
were when I was a kid watching them late
at night on TV), beautiful in it’s
visual style, and the music soundtrack
is mesmerizing.

Sign in and say hi… Still selling
CDs. You’re the best to me. See
you in NO this month, Bulldoggers.
