Newsletter -
November 04'
Hey ya'll.
Sorry that I got my newsletter out a little
late this month. I decided to wait until
after the elections. I am very excited
about the results for Baton Rouge, Louisiana,
and the US. I hope, with these people
in leadership positions, we will grow
as a society, leaving differences behind.
I hope our leadership will help guide
us to a period of national security and
of having our troops come back home soon
- a tough line to walk, no doubt. I hope
we will continue to be proactive in the
pursuit of terrorism. I hope, here at
home, we will continue to show that racism
is fading away - that the best person
for the job is just that. I hope folks
will rely less on government, and I hope
government will rely less on having my
money, and that I can be allowed to manage
that myself, for my own future. I hope
anyone with a bitch can be heard and understood,
but that they don't override the majority.
Just because you were born with one butt
cheek, doesn't mean every chair needs
to be uncomfortable for me... hehe. Sorry,
half-butt man! It was awesome to see how
many people voted this time. I was surprised
by how many people thought John Kerry
was worthy of their vote. I think it was
mostly a vote against George Bush. That
makes me aware that many folks don't like
how he has managed the war in Iraq. I
don't either, necessarily, but he is the
first President in my life that gave me
faith and hope, and he made me feel secure
on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001. (I was
a Democrat for many years, btw - never
liked Wild Bill, though) All I can do
is pray that Mr. Bush and his cabinet
can protect us and serve us well. God
bless our troops....
So, it's the holiday season! I hope it's
a wonderful time of year for you all.
I've got a regular schedule at the usual
spots. Back at On the Half Shell on November
6th, after a long absence. I'll continue
some pre-game private parties and New
Orleans gigs at the Bulldog. I'm not sure
how the patio will be on Fridays, with
the cooler temps. Hopefully, some heaters
will appear soon. Always feel free to
write or call me to verify gigs - kirkholder@kirkholder.com.
Congratulations to John and Molly in Alaska
who are pregnant! I love ya'll and am
so happy for you. Also, my best bud Joel
and his beautiful wife Angie, and their
daughter Eryn, will be joined by a new
child next year! Love ya'll so much! Baby
Cam Stafford is doing wonderfully - smiling
and good-looking. And, for me, well...
I made some really good chili dogs this
past week!
You know my football predictions are looking
to be too positive, don't you? I tried
to be upbeat this season and it has turned
on me. However, it's just a game and it's
all fun and I love watching. Saints probably
need a new coach. LSU needs time to grow
and mature. LSU will still do well and
give us a nice New Year's Day bowl game,
I think. They don't look too strong, though.
Might be dicey for Alabama and Arkansas
- come on Tigers...POOSH, POOSH, POOSH!
At this point, let's say USC - National
Champs. Super Bowl - Phillie and New England.
Outside shots for the AFC - Pittsburgh.
NFC sucks!
Come see me and Chris LeBlanc do our duet
on November 24th at the Vineyard. My band
appears at Superior Grill on November
19th. I'll sit in at the Caterie, with
the Monday Night Band, on November 22nd
(tentative).
Have a Happy Thanksgiving with friends
and family. I will play that night at
the Bulldog, Uptown. Best wishes to you
all and thanks for the support.
Please
keep my good friend and great music supporter,
Joan Abbott, in your thoughts and prayers.
She is undergoing heart surgery this month.
I'm sure she will be fine and will just
need some time to recover. If you want
to call them and wish her well, I have
contact information.
