Thanks from my heart
to all those who came out and performed
and attended our Elvis and Jesse Hurricane
Relief event in October. We didn’t
ask for any money, but just wanted the
bar to have a good day of business, with
many folks in the house. No bands or performers,
including Gerard and I, received any pay.
Spanky’s donated a percentage of
the day’s receipts to The New Orleans
Musicians Clinic and Habitat for Humanity.
They allowed me to pick one of the charities
which would benefit New Orleans musicians.
In total, $1000 was sent to these worthy
organizations. I am blessed to have so
many good friends, colleagues, and fans
who supported and cared about this event.
To again
recognize the performers, they were:
Patricia
Hamilton, who gave us some Las Vegas style
with her comedy
Cam Pyle, who
joined The Damon King Band - Chad Griffin,
Charles Pierce, Bo Jamison,
and Damon King
Peter Duffield
and Steve Smith
Dennis Pennington
and Bret Smith
Skip Painter
and Jody Schexnayder
Debbie Landry
and Dave Long
New World Funk
- Wendell Woods, Andy Pizzo, Chad Braud,
Dan Bourgeois, Matt Doran
And as Elvis
Presley - Gerard Langlois
A special thanks to Brian Gordon of Premier
Sound Services, who called the day before
the event and donated his sound skills
and PA for the day. He was patient and
kind, even when some shots were spilled
on his mixer! I owe you the most, my friend.
I hope all these musicians will be remembered
when it’s time for your party, event,
or anything that will get them income
and recognition. They are all fantastic
and anyone there that day will attest
to the worth of talent we have in this
area.
Political rant of the
month: This symbol is not important
to me

But, it is not illegal.
I don’t like the foulness on TV
and in some forms of music, but it is
not illegal. I tend to walk away from
folks who live in the past and spout racist
terms, knowing I can’t change ignorance.
I don’t expect much from the government,
except to protect me from foreign enemies
and hold up the constitution. This symbol
hurts some people’s feelings, true.
It represents some sad times, in so many
ways. But, it is not illegal. Once it
is declared so, the small number of LSU
students who are asking the university
to ban it from the campus can have their
way. Otherwise, look away, or tell the
person flying it that it offends you.
Don’t worry, the South ain’t
gonna do it again!
Hey, my friend Clay
Jenkins is back from Iraq, for good! It’s
time for the Krewe of Schellhase to celebrate
and begin to talk about riding in the
Southdowns Parade. It’s gonna be
the Comeback Special of 2006!
I sure hope everyone
has a great Thanksgiving with family and
friends. Keep checking my schedule page,
as gigs are coming and going kinda all
the time. I am thankful for all I have
been given, including YOU!
