Hey
folks, here is a link I'm adding for my
good friends Polly and Bill. They just
lost their sister/sis-in-law, and the
link is for a college fund for her children.
If you recall, your donations at the 2007
Elvis and Jesse show went to her, Laurie
Hough. Thanks - www.wyattwillcollegefund.com
I started out to write
a long opinion of the Presidential race
– but decided to erase it. I hope
for the best – God bless the USA!
I wish it for us all, in the best country
this old world has ever seen. This country
and it’s citizens have done more,
created more wealth and health, made more
advances, made a better society in a shorter
period of time than any ever before, I
do believe. Hey friends, I’m gonna
keep singing until they tell me, “to
be fair to brown-eyed girls, you must
play ‘Brown-Eyed Girl,’”
and then I’ll leave. Maybe not –
perhaps before it is dictated, I’ll
play it for $1000 a pop – it will
be my nest egg. That price is too low
– it’s not scary enough. I
think I can get more, so don’t get
all excited! I’ve had people pay
$100 for a good song… hehe.
New gigs coming: Mi
Padres’s on Bluebonnet in BR on
Nov. 13 and Churchill’s on Jefferson
in December. I’ve enjoyed my new
regular gigs at George’s on George
O’Neal. And I’ll be continuing
some of my great other regular gigs, like
Onezia, Serrano’s, The Pastime,
and Sundays at Spanky’s in P’ville.
The rest of the year is nice.
I’ll be at Monjuni’s
on Jefferson, Nov. 21, for White Light
Night – usually a very pleasant
evening, with lots of folks and great
temperatures. Come early for that one
– Monjuni’s will be packed.
Oh, I like this –
Nov. 26, I’ll be at On the Half
Shell in Prairieville, joining Kevin Schexnayder
and Dennis Pennington, for a cool acoustic
vocal trio. These guys can sing! And their
harmonies are terrific. That’s the
night before Thanksgiving. I’d recommend
early arrival for that, too. I’ll
do a Thursday at Southpaws, after everyone’s
food has settled, on Thanksgiving evening.
Probably start a little later, like 9ish.
Happy birthday to Bo
Jamison (BoJam) this month. He is a truly
great friend and fantastic musician. Check
him out with Damon King Band.
My grandma, Wilma Blackwell,
made her way to the great beyond on Oct.
27. She wrote she would have a bench under
a big oak tree and rest, because she was
tired. Sounds like a nice place. God bless
her, sit her on that bench, and give her
a nice cocktail – she liked that,
too. When I find a place, I hope her chicken
and dumplings are there.
Hey, Sammy Hagar and
Black Crowes show up at HOB New Orleans
this month! I don’t see many good
festivals, but Christmas is upon us, so
next month, I’d recommend Christmas
New Orleans Style -

Looking forward to tailgating
with Clay Jenkins, coming in from Afghanistan
this month! God bless all our soldiers
– they are taking care of business
and I am grateful for them all, and hope
they get home safe, soon.
Thanksgiving should
be just wonderful this year. I wish you
a wonderful time with family and friends.
I am lucky to have so much of so many
things, including you who read this and
come hear me sing and play. You keep me
in business! I hope I’ll continue
to earn your friendships and audience
ears.
I can’t even talk
about the food that is coming at me before
this holiday season is over! I love it,
but I’ve got to push away from the
table soon.
Gobble Gobble,
Kirk
