Guess what? It’s
the month of savings! Low power bills!
Fall temps! Who needs an air conditioner
or a heater? Hello friends, and thanks
for checking in this month. Feels like
summer is over today. I did get in a final
summer trip - I went to Destin in September,
after Labor Day. It was so beautiful!
The water was perfect and warm, and it
was sunny every day. I relaxed for a week
and tried to write a little music. Got
a few ideas down, but nothing significant.
I’ll try to address some song writing
soon, though.
My little New Orleans
CD release party, which I arranged mainly
for some reviews, was a non-event, unfortunately.
And I didn’t get the CD reviews
I desired, either. But, a few great folks
showed up to try to help me. Thanks to
Craig and Mac for being my sales staff,
and Steve Watson at the Kingpin for the
room. Jeff Hood and Matt Doran were wonderful
friends to perform with me and take the
time to try to make it special for me.
Thanks to those who came and bought some
CDs and merchandise. I think the reviews
will come out, sooner or later. I did
get my CDs into Tower Records and Louisiana
Music Factory in New Orleans for retail
sales. They are available now at both
stores. I might do an “in-store”
show at Louisiana Music Factory later
this year. It’s a cool little place
across from the House of Blues.
Thanks to Dave Long,
I got some radio airplay this past weekend
(9/27). He told me about KZMZ in Monroe
playing local CDs. He has already heard
Chris LeBlanc’s new tune, “Starshine”
(which rocks, baby!!) as well as my “Wine
and Cigarettes” cut. Thanks to John
Dogma for putting me on his show.
OK, October has a nice
schedule, with several private parties,
every Sunday at Spanky’s (I won’t
miss any this month), every Monday with
the fellas at the Caterie, three trips
to On the Half Shell, two nights at Seafood
Ya Ya, and one night each at Churchill’s,
the Vineyard, and the Station. Also, Oktoberfest
in Ponchatoula is this month – the
17th to the 19th. I think it’s a
fun time and recommend it to anyone who
likes to have fun dancing, drinking, eating,
and people watching. The Austrian band
is fun in the daytime and the nightly
band is always hilarious. You get lots
of food per plate and the beer flows like
wine! I’d say for about $50, two
folks can have a great day – or,
I could have a really great day!
I think, by this time,
Matt and Michelle Doran should’ve
had their new baby girl! Congrats to them,
and Charles Pierce, on the new bundles
of joy. Chad’s is just around the
corner! Also, by this time, you know my
football predictions are WAY OFF! Hey,
but I stuck my neck out early. LSU is
awesome and will definitely be better
than my 9-3 prediction. Saints blow! What’d
I say? 8-8? Lucky to win 5 more games.
But, I’ll be in that Dome, baby!
Unless I can sell to some out-of-town
fan of the visiting with their team!
On November 1 (LSU Homecoming
night game) I am playing at the Main Street
Market from 10:30am to noon. My friend,
Kelly Hutson, has organized another run
for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS
- Lou Gehrig's disease). I'll be entertaining
folks as they finish their run/walk. You
can get details for participating at www.aHomeRunforALS.org.
And you can write to Kelly at khutso2@cox.net.
I know lots of runners and walkers, so
if you can help us with this cause, come
on out and join in.
Thanks, as always, for
the tremendous support you give me. I
think I’ve neglected updating my
show for quite some time, and I’m
sorry about that, but I’ll try to
find some time to address that. It’s
a wonderful time of year and I hope you
are enjoying this fantastic weather. My
best to you all.
