Not
gonna write much, at this moment, friends.
I will tell you the Elvis and Jesse show
was the best ever, with my best personal
moment in Elvis and Jesse show history
– singing “Memories.”
Meant a lot to me. With audience donations,
a donation from Leo Verde (Sullivan’s
manager), band members donating their
fees, and Gerard and I giving our pay,
we sent $1150 to St. Jude’s Children’s
Research Hospital in Memphis. I am blessed
for your help and support of this yearly
experience. Thanks so much to Drew Foster
and Leo at Sullivan’s for the great
stage and budget. Thanks to PSS for sound.
Great thanks to all musicians who participated:
Laurie Whitney, Chris LeBlanc, Russ Bryant,
Louis LeBlanc, Nick DiMaio, Stan Campbell,
and mainly Gerard Langlois, aka Elvis.
Great friends in the Memphis Mafia –
Bill Stafford, Shane LaCombe, and Sterling
Byrd. Additional help from Dave “the
Colonel” Long, as well as Bo Jamison
and Charles Pierce. This thing can’t
be done alone, and we always have tremendous
help from our friends.
The gigs September are dependent on electricity
getting back on, and the curfew being
lifted in Baton Rouge. Check with me.
My situation could be worse: I did have
a pine tree land on my house, but the
damage is not awful and I wasn’t
hurt. My neighbors took great care of
me during the power outages, and even
offered to help me put on a temporary
roof. I can’t tell you how many
friends and strangers are offering support
and help. I hope you all made it through
safely and your homes and lives will get
back on track soon. I know all us musicians
have taken a beating, like many self-employed
folks have. Check with fema.gov and Disaster
Unemployment Assistance. Something called
Music Cares sent me a debit card after
Hurricane Katrina, so that might help.
It’ll be good to get out soon, play
some music, and see you all.
Kirk
